Merak and Sakteng village is a home to the semi nomadic people known as the Broakpa (highlanders). Broakpas livelihood depends on yak herding. Men wears a thick red wool coat and women wears a red and white striped dress. Locals in the area calms the existence of yeti. However it is deemed a legend due to the evidence to substantiate this claim. Both the villages are connected by motorable road and it takes half day to drive from Trashigang.
